Dear ov1d1u, I think you didn't get what I mean. the application "sounds" when I receive new messages too. But it'll not "sounds" if you minimize the application (it'll not receive any message too if you minimize the program). Try to minimize the program, and you'll see what I mean. In BBM, it'll receive message and "sounds" even if you minimize the application.
Hope this function is implemented soon in shMessenger.

That's what I said. If I minimize the application, it will continue to receive messages and emit sounds for each event (log-in/log-out of a user, new message, BUZZ, etc.). The only problem on my phone is that shMessenger is not vibrating while the application is minimized.

The problem is in China Phone with OS MTK6235:
When you're on your friend's chat room (not on your buddylist room) and you minimize the program, it'll not give "sounds" notification when there's new message from that friend. The point is it'll not give notification if you're in the chat room with the same person (even if you minimize the program).
Second problem is, there will be no "sounds" notification for any conference chat request if you minimize the program.
In Nokia E71 it works well:
It'll give "sounds" notification when you minimize the program (even if you're in your friend's chat room when you minimize it).
Where's the auto-reconnect function? shMessenger haven't implemented it yet? It'll be good if there's auto-reconnect function. So people can choose wether they want to auto-reconnect or not. (For me I don't care about the bandwith, so I'll prefer this function just the same like in BlackBerry).

The problem is obviously with your phone's Java implementation and i really doubt there is anything we can do to fix those issues you have.

My friend, first of all, no one said it will be implemented. Second, the reconnect or auto-reconnect feature has to be server side supported and, for now, the shmessenger servers don't support a big amount of people to reconnect simultaneously. This will be fixed with a server hardware update when we'll be able to afford one.

Have already been discussed, and will never be made.
shmessenger is a 3rd party aplication, it has to be linked to an intermediate server
moreover, it's about the advertisement on the shmessenger pages, it generates a small income, don't forget it's a free aplication.

shMessenger usefull data aka read this first:
(*) THE INVISIBLE SCANNER ISN'T WORKING. IT'S YAHOO'S FAULT, THEY PATCHED THE BACKDOOR THAT ALOWED SHMESSENGER TO SPY.
(*) "Internal server error": Yahoo must have banned the shMessenger servers (it's temporary) just be patien and try agan after a cuple of hours.
(*)The new shMessenger account is activated automatically when you first log in from your phone on your shmessenger aplication
Known problems/errors so stop asking about them:
(*) the buddy icon changing for MSN is not implemented
Proxy settings, you must put these setings in the connection setings of your phone (aplication data/settings/etc) and in the shmessenger settings.

it works. I just tried it and it works ok.
The only moment in which you see someone offline instead of invisible is the one when you don't have that person added to your contacts list.

YM hidden emoticons are implemented in shMessenger, they're just hidden, as the name suggests.

think that the program lacks the detector to know that friends use the same program or use another program to chat
This is something necessary to support the program
I hope in the next updated version of the program that supports this feature

i don't see any practical reason to implement this. what if you are able to know that your friends are on shmessenger or other software?? will it make it easier for you to communicate with them? would it make it faster or more reliable? no! plus, there would be no privacy for the user. If someone is on shmessenger , he might not want the entire world to know that....
sorry, i don't think this is a truly useful idea to implement.

hi!
i was wondering if it's possible for the screen to automatically rotate when i slide out the keypad on my samsung corby pro? an option to have it rotated manually should be good enough though. i just find it a bit awkward to type in my keypad with my screen rotated facing the other side. and the only program that i'm aware of that does that automatically is palringo. but that program isn't all that good features and looks wise
thanks

Required:
1. LANDSCAPE MODE : so that typing will be easy in virtual keyboard when the keys get larger. and keys similar to this
i mean no need lot of keys on first screen, just alphabate , fullstop and comma, space. then in other, numbers and symbols.. If you put just alphabate and comma and fullstop then u can make Virtual keyboard's key litter larger and bigger then people will feel ease to type text.
and they wont need to disable Virtual keyboard on their touch screen mobile like am doing now
2. STATUS : it would be great if it show status of IM contact without opening chat box , like in ebuddy.
3. COPY/PASTE irritating: after hitting COPY, paste menu come in option in the first list and it cant be UNDO. :'(

It's the first version that supports virtual keyboard so...we'll try to make it better and better in the future. Thanks for the tips.
2. STATUS : it would be great if it show status of IM contact without opening chat box , like in ebuddy.
it won't be implemeted because it will take a lot of phone's resources (RAM, CPU) just to show a status. Plus, what if you have different status messages for all you 200 contacts in the list? The application will be significantly slowed down. On some phones, might not even work at all. So, no, for now, now status in the buddylist.
3. COPY/PASTE irritating: after hitting COPY, paste menu come in option in the first list and it cant be UNDO. :'(
we'll see

I am using shMessenger for 1 year, and right now I am using ver 3.2 RC2 on my LG KM555 phone. This is very good chat client I have ever used. But, on my KM555, the virtual keyboard is so small (cuz it in portrait mode), so it difficult to type quickly and exactly as in QWERTY physical-keyboard. I hope you will have a options for
- landscape mode,
- allow virtual keyboard to auto-hide when we don't type it. It will give more room for showing something else
- just alphabet and fullstop - enter - ques-mark, exclam-mark on the first screen of v-k (like cnovasax said), then symbols and numberic on the other screen. This would be greate.
Thanks

landscape mode
The application auto-rotates if the phone allows it.
allow virtual keyboard to auto-hide when we don't type it. It will give more room for showing something else
The virtual keyboard option can be deactivated from application's Settings menu. The auto-hide option might be implemented but when not on focus, not after a predefined time because there is no way we could know if you wanted to hide the virtual keyboard or you are just thinking about what to write before actually writing it. Second part would be annoying if you think for more than let's say 10 seconds, the virtual keyboard hides itself, and when you finally decide to write, the keyboard it's not there anymore and you have to bring it up again.
just alphabet and fullstop - enter - ques-mark, exclam-mark on the first screen of v-k (like cnovasax said), then symbols and numberic on the other screen. This would be greate.
Yeah, this might be great for you but different phones have different keyboard layouts and you cannot make a keyboard to satisfy everyone...so, for now, it will stay as it is. It's far from being perfect but we're working on it in the best interest of all users. So,please, be patient and understanding.

- support for backspace and enter keys in box editing on "All phones version" (I have a qwerty phone but it doesn't have an operating system, the keys work when I hit 'shift' except for 'enter' and 'backspace'. I don't want to use the native input because it's alot more keys to press)
- 'close' button when there is no text to clear (when talking to someone and you don't have text entered in the box, it would be faster to hit one key instead of options->up key->close; plus closing the dialog box by mistake won't be that often, because if you want to erase all the text eneterd, then you will keep the 'clear' button pushed all the way)

1. What phone do you use?
2. Won't be implemented because when you will long press Clear, since the clear key will automatically turn into Close, you will close the chat window by mistake.

I presed the 'options' button and kept it pressed. Altough the button changed it's name to 'select' when I released it, it didn't select the first menu item.
When clearing text It's so impractical to keep pushing the 'clear' button for every letter (unless you have a small word) rather than keeping it pressed, so I assume nobody will accidently close the message window when erasing a message.
I use a LG GW300, it's just a normal phone with a qwerty keyboard. Also, every time I log in and start typing, the 'shift' key is activated so I need to press it if I don't want to talk in symbols
LE : Just installed shMessenger on a nokia E5 and the enter/backspace works on this phone
